Tu B’Shvat

This week, Shabbat is back at Hillel and we are celebrating Tu B’Shvat.  Our dinner will consist of roasted seitan (a vegan protein), tomato garlic penne, roasted potatoes, sauteed vegetables and salad.  Leadership team members Nevan Mandel, Rose Bork and Sadye Hazan will be cooking dinner.

This dinner will be completely vegan not only to be more sustainable, but to celebrate Tu B’Shvat.

Tu B’Shvat is the 15th day of the Hebrew month of Shvat.  It is the “new year for trees” and in Israel, is a day of environmental awareness.  Therefore, for our Tu B’Shvat dinner, we chose to be more environmentally aware by cooking a vegan meal to reduce our carbon footprint.
