Rabbi Mordecai Kaplan

(July 11, 1881- November 8, 1983)

Rabbi Mordecai Kaplan is a pioneer in the American Jewish movement. An ordained Rabbi of the Jewish Theological Seminary and an associate Rabbi of a major Orthodox Synagogue, Rabbi Kaplan would become the founder of the Jewish Reconstructionist movement. There are some 100 synagogues in the United States that are affiliated with it.
