Staying Connected Through Covid
DU Hillel is still providing opportunities for students to safely learn, connect, and celebrate Judaism with programs like weekly Shabbox pick ups, quarterly classes like Israel Through Netflix and Winter Wellness, our weekly Tid Bits O Torah, and more!
Denver University Hillel is a proud part of Hillel of Colorado – which also includes the Colorado State Hillel – serving students with traditional programming such as Shabbat dinners, holiday celebrations, social justice initiatives, and religious and social programs; leadership programs to train the Jewish leaders of tomorrow, and Israel programs including Birthright Israel travel opportunities and Israel education, dialogue, and advocacy programs.
At DU Hillel’s home-away-from-home we offer our students lots of ways to engage Jewishly.
From Shabbat dinners, holiday, celebrations, Social Justice programs; and Leadership Development opportunities were always cultivating our community!
Join us every Friday night at the Merage & Allon DU Hillel Center (and virtually during COVID-19) for a short, student-led Kabbalat Shabbat service, dinner, and community experience: our amazing students take the lead in planning and implementing all of our programs.
Together with our student leaders, we are now working on programs that are creative, fun and safe during the time of COVID-19. Stay tuned for updates on our website calendar and social media.
It is for good reason that the Jewish people are called – “People of the Book”. Learning is a core value in Judaism, so at Hillel we offer learning groups on engaging topics such as:
- Israel: its beauty and challenges;
- Judaism: Dilemmas and questions coming up while connecting our modern life with ancient wisdom;
- check out our weekly Tid Bits of Torah to learn the parshat of the week from our Director
- Tikun Olam and personal wellness: Using Jewish law and custom to care for ourselves and our surroundings.
- Be a part of our Winter Wellness Cohort
- Join our Green Team to engage in learning and action around eco-Judaism
Join us for our next program!
Our core student-led staff-supported programming is built on traditional Jewish practices such as Kabbalat Shabbat, Friday evening dinner, holiday celebrations, Jewish learning, social justice initiatives, and religious and social programs.All Events
A Word From Our Campus Director
Shalom – I say this not only as a “Hello” but also as a wish for peace to you. Though right now life may seem like the choppy waters of the sea, we at Hillel offer our students moments of shalom. Through Jewish centered programming, we offer students ways to connect, learn, and grow through this pandemic. Staying safe by following the protocols put out by the City of Denver, the University of Denver, and the guidelines of the CDC is a priority as we continue to empower our students.
As the new Director of Jewish Student Life, I am excited to embark on the journey of Jewish Exploration with the University of Denver Hillel student body. I look forward to getting to know you, so please reach out! I am only an email, phone call, or text message away to share a “shalom”.Contact Me

Today’s Student Spotlight: Elizabeth Pepper
Our March student spotlight is our amazing student Pepper! Born in St Louis, she came to The University of Denver 4 years ago to enjoy the natural beauty and study it! She is working towards getting her Bachelors of Science in Environmental Science to pursue her passions in Sustainability.
Her time at DU has been centered around making her communities more environmentally sustainable. She has worked at the The Center for Sustainability all 4 years at DU on their food team, tackling food insecurity at DU. She is also the Head of our Hillel Green Team, helping make our community more sustainable! Having the opportunity for her to apply her learning around sustainability and connect it all to her Jewish values through leading programming has been fun and fulfilling throughout her time at DU.
In her last quarters at DU she is truly setting a legacy in helping create sustainable changes at our home-away-from-home. If you want to connect with Pepper, reach out! Lets chat eco-judaism together and be inspired by Pepper!Read More
